Not so good with numbers. Pretty alright with letters.

A - Available/single? - TAKEN! Really, fully, possessively taken and very happy about it.

B - Best Friend - my longest, closest, bestest, you know her as Biddie. But I also have to include my husband. He's a special kind of best friend. And my critters.

C - Cake or Pie? - Pie.

D - Drink of choice - Water. Or beer when I get to siddown for a minute.

E - Essential everyday item - Lotion. I have dry skin.

F - Fav color - Pink. No, black. No, red. No, pink. Purple. Brown. I used to hate pink.

G - Gummy bears or Worms? - YYYYYuuuuuucccckkkk.

H - Hometown - Technically, being a farm kid, I don't have a hometown. I went to school in Havasnot, but I consider my hometown to be Smallburg.

I - Indulgence - Beer. The occasional restaurant meal. Soft flannel bedding. Dark Chocolate. NOT all at the same time ok? Whaddaya think I am, some kind of weirdo?

J - January, or February? - February. Because it's got Groundhog day.

K - Kids, and names -Two. The Girl and The Boy. Very fast births, no time for long names.

L - Life Is Incomplete Without...... A good book. A good man. A good horse. (funny kids, old cat, obnoxious dog...)

M - Marriage date - July 1991.

N - Number of siblings - one really polite clean and extremely pretty sister who would rather not take up any space on this blog. I think I embarrass her. She should have been the oldest instead. She'd have been better at it.

O - Oranges or apples - what???? What is this, math class????? Stop it!

P - Phobias/fears -I'm afraid to talk about that.

Q - Favourite quote - Lately I've been spontaneously breaking out into random pirate quotes. Like, I'll glare at one kid and roar, "BOOTSTRAP BILL, YERRRR A LIARRR, AND YOU WILL SPEND AN ETERRRNITY ON THIS SHIP."

Then I look at the other kid and go, "Mastah Turnah, feel free to go ashore [snort] the veddy next time we maekkk porrrrttt!"

Or if I'm feeling silly, "Much mo bettah. It is a drawring of a key"

Or if breaking up a fight, "So whose fault is it really that you've ended up a rum soaked deck hand what takes orders from pirates?"

And the classic... "Why is the rum always gone?"

R - Reason to Smile - pretty green eyes.

S - Season, Fall or Spring - I want to love spring, but I seem to get depression problems around that time. I love fall but it also breaks my heart. So you know what, I just think it's great to live in a place with 4 seasons. Cop out answer.

T - Tag 3 or 4 people - okay...darnit, you know what, just go ahead and do this. I've got a bad side stitch, I can't catch anybody else to tag.

U - Unknown fact about me - pfffff okay everything I want you to know, you already know. I must keep a few secrets or I'll have nothing left to write about. Okay how 'bout this: I almost moved to Memphis Tennessee when I was 21. I asked a black man on a park bench for directions and when I went back to the studio all the white girls at the front desk were horrified that I was so stupid and ignorant to do such a dangerous thing like that. I loved Memphis, I'd love to visit again, I loved the accent and the heat, but that kind of thing reeeeally bothered me.

V - Veggie that I don't like - celery

W - Worst habit....They're all bad. Why pick one?

X - X-rays - Spine, left ankle. Once they Xrayed my head but it's okay. They didn't find anything.

Y - Your Fav Food - Anything I didn't have to prepare or clean up after.

Z - Zodiac sign - Capricorn, the goat!

See, now, I didn't know thatyou hated celery. the rest really wasn't news to me...I knew that you would pick a pirate quote, well I thought that you would pick ONE quote.....I kinda think of Smallburg as my hometown, too...

See, I'll eat celery. I'm very agreeable that way.

I went kinda nuts on the quote thing. Sorry about that. It's been a llittle crazy around here lately...

Memphis? Oh, I can totally see you as a Canadian Southern Belle... but there is one important question. How do you feel about Mint Juleps and crochet?

;-)

Oh, man, what a crisis when I thought that you were moving! I was miserable...Happy for Jethro and all, but still....I am SO happy that you are here. Thing is, I know that even if you had moved, we'd still be bestestes....that's the thing about you.
I love you man!

Heidi the Hick said...

Ah love yooo tooo maaaan! And will defend you to the bitter end.

I really did love Memphis but I like being Canadian. Besides, it turns out we're not real good with five year plans. We'd probably still be there now and it wasn't supposed to be permanent. I mean, look how long I've lived in this place now.

(It's been 9 1/2 years. It was supposed to 5 to 7)

Cindy, many things about Memphis suited me. The music, the food, the atmosphere. I picked up a drawl after one weekend.

I'm not saying there's no racism in Canada. There's some nasty stuff going on in some parts of Toronto. But to be told not to TALK to anybody non-white...it kinda scared me. Remind me to tell you about my best friend in Kindergarten.

Oh- the mint juleps! Do you know I never even had one??? Two visits, two long extended weekends, and no mint juleps! Although we have some amaaaaazing chicken gumbo!

Down south they eat anything that doesn't eat you first. I am amazed that their stomachs can take it...all that creepy crawly stuff and lots of hot sauce too!

You are a "stitch" heidi!

G - Gummy bears or Worms? - YYYYYuuuuuucccckkkk

I love me some Gummy worms! I always buy a big tub of them right before I go on a long road trip.

I hate celery too. I once found a piece of celery in my chocolate pudding. It made me gag really bad, and I still want to kill Axl Rose.

now I know everything about you!

Heidi the Hick said...

Leroy- we were down south before the kids were born, and I ate all kinds of hot spicy food. Haven't been able to eat hot stuff since babies. I'm working up a tolerance very slowly and someday we'll take the kids there for a visit!

Terry- Other people are such good cooks, eh?

Biddie, mint julep is a drink. Or I guess I should say THE drink. I mght have had one and forgot. You know how I am with the blurry memory!!!

Corky, that's just like Axl to put celery in your chocolate pudding. When will he stop????

Heidi the Hick said...

Timmy- ALMOST!!

any surprizes???

Mint Julep
From Colleen Graham,
Your Guide to Cocktails.

If you are especially fond of Mint Juleps, try infusing a sugar syrup with mint and skip the sugar cubes instead of muddling the mint leaves.

INGREDIENTS:
4-6 mint leaves
2 sugar cubes
4 oz bourbon
mint sprig for garnish

PREPARATION:
Place the ingredients into a cocktail shaker.
Muddle well to dissolve the sugar and to release the oil and aroma of the mint.
Add ice cubes to the shaker.
Shake well.
Strain into a julep cup or collins glass with ice cubes.
Garnish with the mint sprig.

Heidi the Hick said...

WOW!

I have never muddled a mint leaf in my life...

Biddie said...

Muddle? This is way too complicate for me, guys.

Doughnut said...

I am not sure I know how to muddle mint leaves nor that if I did, my stomach could take it - and I never gave birth, nor will. So heidi having kids changes the amount of hot stuff you can tolerate? I could never tolerate hot spicy foods...although I am a bit envious of people who can wolf down jalapeno peppers and the like.

Heidi the Hick said...

Pregnancy often goes with heartburn, which I had, and couldn't eat anything hot or spicy!!

I don't have a cocktail shaker either...

dilling said...

Kids and names....you crack me up...you really, really do.
Lordy, we have three coctail shakers...one pretty one when we have company, one ugly one that we use for just us(nostalgia) and one unbreakable one for mixing drinks while out camping in the van. I do not really like "roughing it."

dilling said...

btw, on the Dad Gone Mad blog yesterday? He used the word Ass-hat and I nearly snorted coffee out my nose...

Crafty Missus said...

hmmm yes. pregnancy and heartburn, thank god for rolaid chews.....

celery's OK by me

Doughnut said...

Never like gummy bears or worms - or licorice either. I'm with you on that one as well as pie over cake.

gawilli said...

We always find good music in Memphis and Nashville, but never the kind we like in the well-traveled places.

Doughnut said...

celery goes good with peanut butter or cream cheese!

DJ Andi said...

I did this one too. Check mine out. I also hate celery but then I can identify it mile away so I am able to pick it out, however eggplant-yuckkkkkkk!

I too quoted a movie - who knew?

You're funny!

To all those who think southerners eat road kill and anything that doesn't eat them...I got news for you. There are a lot of chefs from the south and guess what? They don't cook possum. They might make a mint julep though. Not a fan myself, but hand me a Southern Comfort with something or without - it's quite tasty.
