Illustrated Ode to A British Actor Whom I Dig Large.

Alan Rickman!

Your voice is velvet
with a touch of cold.

Cold velvet in your throat.

You are totally cool
so smooth
so suave
or are you?

Alan Rickman!

With your long face
and heavy eyelids.

That stiff upper lip.

You.

8:15.

You.

8:45.

Bring a friend.

And cancel Christmas.

Did anybody else think that he was THE BEST THING ABOUT THAT ROBIN HOOD MOVIE?????

And no, I still have not seen Sweeney Todd. Maybe tomorrow I'll write a sad poem.

But today, that's all I got, folks.

And now I must get to work work work...

Also I think I'd like a cellar like Snape's dungeon.

Only I'd have pickled beets instead of polyjuice potion.

He WAS the best...
I saw him once in part of a movie, I have no clue what it was called, seemingly about... lets see... he was dead, I think, and still carrying on conversations with his girlfriend/wife... or something... OK. Maybe I dreamed this up... ??
Anyway... He's awesome...

Snape's dungeon WOULD be cool.. Could be interesting... Hmm...
Great post...

Was it Sense And Sensibility that he was in? Emma Thompson?

My kids love him also because he did the voice of Marvin the Paranoid Android in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

"Why a spoon, cousin? Why not an axe?"

"Because it's dull! It's hurt more, you twit!"

And who could forget:

"By Grapthar's hammer....what...a bargain."

But my alltime favorite Rickman role was the dead cellist boyfriend in Truly Madly Deeply. I believe it's the movie that Anita was trying to remember. Please tell me you've seen this movie. If not, go out and get it right now. Don't just sit there! RUN!

Of course, being a guy, I will deny ever telling you I liked it.

You know what? I must rent it. Today. TODAY!

Yeah, the spoon line was classic. I had a hankering to see that movie again but I've got it on VHS...and the VCR is broken. Darn technology.

What a great voice and always the most sinister villain!

Biddie said...

LOL. I was going to say that about Robin Hood! I LOVE that spoon line, too.
I could lend you my copy of Robin Hood, but it's on VHS, too.
SIGH.
Sorry I'm behind a little. Missing some of your posts. Got myself a wicked bad case of insomnia and I just can't get it together.

Truly Madly Deeply....to die for.

Guess what? Neither of the big video stores in my town have Truly Madly Deeply. Gah.

Does anybody use Netflix? Is it any good?

I hate knockin all over town to rent a movie. I hate shopping. I wanna go home and get busy.

Isn't it true that the villain is always more fun than the good guy? The Sheriff of Nottingham was more interesting than Robin Hood. I was cheering for the Sheriff.

I'm thinking a lot about villain-as-hero. Hmm. How does that work????

Get it get it get it. It's one of ten movies I ever owned...of course, I had it on VHS and it may be gone now....gone with the vcr, but I could go check the basement for sure, if you can't find it..and you have a vcr.

dammit pirate, I was going to bring up truly, madly, deeply...! you beat me to it.

spectacular movie. my fave rickman film.

Anita said...

Yes, Balloon Pirate, that was it!! I can't believe you haven't seen it, Heidi, you need to find it!!:)

Anita said...

Oh, and I used to do Netflix - fabulous... totally worth it...

Heidi the Hick said...

Can you believe in a big town of 40,000 that neither rental store has it???

We can't get Netflix here but we have Zip.ca so I think I'll check that out. I can't be bothered to take an extra trip to return a video and when I'm living out in the country in the future there's no way I'll be taking a 15 minute drive into town just to avoid a late fee.

Must see that movie...!

'Scuse my language, Miss Heidi, but I fracking LOVE your poem.

Love love love. You are my total hero.

('Course, the fact that I worship Rickman's unctuous consonants doesn't hurt).
