Happy Big Fat Canadian Long Weekend!

I've been totally scatterbrained this week. No short term memory. I planned to write about such weighty issues as urban sprawl, skunks, barns, lawn poison, and shirtless boys fixing cars when I was a teenager. I'd have been very funny & witty of course but I couldn't concentrate long enough. My naturopath gave me a remedy that calmed my anxiety and lessened the depression...I just can't remember why I'm in this room. Or where my kids are. So....

HERE ARE SOME FUN THINGS AS WE KICK OFF THE FIRST OF OUR PRECIOUS CANADIAN LONG WEEKENDS because Queen Victoria had a birthday on May 24 so in this country we call it MAY 2-4 as in a 2-4 of beer, geddit, and we Canucks will do anything to celebrate a long weekend. Remember SUMMER STARTS AT 5PM TODAY!!!!!

1) I dig my plaid jacket but maybe it'll be warm enough to go riding in a t shirt!

2) I love my pets. The dog is growing up nicely. At this moment my cat is at the vet's so that he can pee and they can test it to make sure he's okay. He's drinking a huge amount of water. He's 16 years old, we got him six weeks after we got married and I love him so much. He's my best buddy in the world. He's in great shape and I am praying that he's okay.

3) Most of my blog-buddies are : A) from Indiana, B) falconers, C) Horse freaks D)Redheads, E) Rednecks, F) a robot, G) combinations thereof. And I have a couple of gay guy blog buddies too. I love everybody. I think most of us can agree on one thing: men in cowboy hats, that's good.

4) I had a nasty case of writer's block. I could blog but I couldn't novel. Well guess what-I'm back! I have brought the misbehaving teenager who got suspended back to school, her best friend isn't a virgin anymore, her boyfriend is still a jerk and finally the words are spilling out of my fingertips again. Oh. Sweet relief. Often it drives me crazy, the way they talk to each other in my head, but I sure missed them when they were silent.

5) Hoegaarden, Amsterdam, Stella Artois, Grolsch, I'm in a German Beer Snob kind of mood. (None of those are actually german beers but I like using the whole "German_____snob" thing.)

6) One more look at my beautiful friends:

7) This weeks beloved Rock Stars: Red Hot Chili Peppers. Pigging out on Peppers, I am. I'll be putting up my review soon. Look at them! Damn they look good! And they sound as good as they look! Yay!

The Raconteurs. I like this photo; they look like they got lost in Middle Earth.

Rage Against the Machine. I bought Renegades yesterday. Finally.

Chris Cornell. My son is planning to play "Cochise" at the recital on drums. Jethro might accompany him on guitar. None of us are brave enough to do Cornell's vocals. He's bitchin.

In case you're wondering, THIS is how to hold a guitar.

Hello Heidi. I'm Mr Kiedis, I'll be your teacher today. I'll have no goofing off, because this is all very serious. And when we're done being serious, we're gonna party freaky styley. (But Mr Kiedis, I don't know what that means!) And that's why I'm here to teach you. Now pay attention...

8) And finally, Johnny, my darling, since Jethro won't let me post a pic of his beautiful green eyes, you'll have to do. I love your rare and precious smile!

Have a fun filled weekend, stay alive, see you on Tuesday!

THE NEWS ON THE CAT:
Nigel is home and ruling the couch in his efficient way. He is not diabetic (whew) but they took a blood test to see how his old kidneys are. Results tomorrow. Right now he's ensuring that his tail is perfect. He's gorgeous.

Kari- You know, you just know, that flannel is sexy.
Tell the boss you can't come in Monday in celebration of May 2-4. See what happens!

JJ- hey your blog is back! I read recently that Zack is working on some wacky angry hippie social commentary civil disobedience folk album. I'm sure there'll still be plenty o cussin!

Cornell. Love him. He'll be the subject of a posting later on because you know I love my rock stars.

Like the way I snuck Johnny in there twice?

I want a lesson with Mr. Kiedis.

Pluvialis said...

We want excerpts from your novel! Yay for you writing it!

Lessons and excerpts! Lessons and excerpts!

Well, for Smartypants, I don't know if I can swing the Kiedis lessons in real life, but that's what our brilliant imaginations are for!

And for you Pluvialis, anything. So I'll give a little bit of it next week. Now I just have to decide which part...

Ummm, beer. I had a couple delicious Stellas in Brussels last week. Now that is a good beer town!

Have a great long weekend!

is redheaded, rednecked AND a horse freak!

WUHOO is all I have to say about long weekends. Although, I do get a bit more excited about the ones that apply to ME! :-)

Glad you kitty is feeling ok.

My plans for the day include taking some pics of my horses. Everytime I want to show someone, I can't find pics I like enough to brag with. It's a quandry hopefully resolved today.

Don't they have nice bums? Thanks Nifty! I love a nice bum on anybody. My kids have declared that horses and humans are the only critters that have bum cheeks. Think it over...

I'll take any excuse to get Johnny into a posting. I have actually had too much chocolate (it was the best bad feeling ever) but I've never had too much Johnny!

Yankee, I'm so glad they let you off they plane long enough to grab some belgian beer!!!

And yes, nice to see Johnny grinning. So rare.

Folks, I'll write about my cat next week. good stories.

CD- See, you are a combination of the best blogging qualities! Looking forward to those horse pix!

At least one of your blogging friends is none of the above.

Oh, wait. I forgot. I'm a gay readheaded robot.

Never mind.

My 16-yr-old cat's just too damn ornery to die.

We have to wait one week longer than y'all to start our summer. But that's ok. This past weekend was so sucky (rainy and cold) that it wouldn't work very well as a summertime kickoff.

Didn't know you were a novelist. Cool.

Hope- thanks! I'm from southern Ontario, about an hour's drive north from Lake Ontario. Someday I'll tell you about my short trip to Arkansas!

Hickster--

I'm not what one would call a classic rehead. Actually, my hair color seems to defy classification.

It's been called brown, pale brown, auburn, copper, mahogany, wheat, and even blonde (and that was by a hairdresser).

But if it makes you happy to tick me into the redhead box, have at it.

I will call you the Mahogany Blonde the Redheaded Pirate!

Jack White is slowly morphing into Micheal Jackson.

Heidi the Hick said...

y'know Indy, I'm rather frightened by that. they're both kind of elf-like, only Jack is less scary. So far...

I need to sit Jack down and make sure he doesn't go Jacko weird. Jack weird is good, Jacko weird is bad.

Steve Bodio said...

I'm with Pluvialis-- novel bits please!

(She has my email).

Heidi the Hick said...

Well that does it. If I get a request from Pluvialis AND Steve Bodio, then I must share!
