I don't usually talk politics here. However.
I stayed up past bedtime last night to watch global history being made in my neighbouring country. I watched two amazing speeches. One was gracious and classy and fair, made by a man who would have been a great president. The other was uplifting and inspiring, from a man I believe will be a great president.

Cindy, I know a lot of people were concerned that he's a lovely speaker and not much else to back it up. But I do think he's intelligent. That's hard to fake.

Tod, dude, thanks I think, but I didn't have any choice in this one! Our election last month was a joke. Ol Stevie H called it to break up a minority gov, and ended up 5 weeks later with... a minority gov.
And to top it all off, Corner Gas is going off the air. At least our politicians will still be able to exercise their comedy skills on This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
Speaking of which... Sarah Palin appearing on SNL. That was so many flavours of awesome.
I'm proud to have been part of this piece of history. Life is going to become very interesting.
I listened to Obama's speech. It was moving...and I hate politics and political speeches.
I have high hopes.
I agree, he will be a great president. I was honored to vote for him yesterday. I truly think his picture will hang next to the greats, Washington & Lincoln.
I am so thankful to live in the USA!
I'm filled with hope and trepidation in equal measure. I'm so happy Obama won, but all the unenlightened people weren't instantly beamed off the planet when he did. We all (the whole world) still have lots of work to do.
I don't usually talk politics because I am just cynical enough to believe that all politicians have to lie even just a little bit. They have to say what people want to hear just to get elected.
But I love democracy. I love choice.
here's the problem: human nature means changing your mind, right? If a politician changes his mind it's called flip-flopping, being indecisive.
We're all in this together.
I'm a Canadian, a Mennonite pacifist, and a woman, not to mention a veggie growing, light pollution hating, country bumpkin, and that is all going to colour my political leanings, but I gotta tell ya, this really is a great planet despite all of the bone headed crap we do.
Did I ever mention that my best friend in Kindergarten was a little black boy?
(He may have started my obsession with long black eyelashes.)
At that age, we take everything for what it is and nothing's weird, it just IS.
I hope the 5 year old kids of today think it's absolutely normal and not a big deal at all to have a black man running the world's most influential country.
Anyways, I'm done for now. It's a beautiful day and I must go walk a dog and ride a horse.
Suddenly I realize how stupendously great my life can be!
I woke up this morning and saw everything in a fresh new light. The winds of change are blowing today!
YAY!

WOOHOO!!

Of course he's not perfect but at least he's not some bumbling eediot!
