and some sadness from the world of movies.

For the last few years, it was reassuring to me to know that Paul Newman was still around, up and at it.  I'd see pictures of him and nudge my daughter.  "Look, he's still gorgeous.  What a beautiful old man."

It was good to know that he was charitable, and generous, and that he continued his enthusiasm for race cars, and that his love for his wife was as strong as ever.

They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

He made some good movies.  He didn't really like a big fuss being made over his appearance, and claimed that his success was really all due to pure, dumb luck.

All I know is, I must watch Hud again.

When we took the whole fam damily to see Cars at the move theatre, my dad was happy to know whose voice brought the Hudson Hornet to life.  "That was a hot car," he said.  I answered that it made sense, with the man belonging to the voice being such a fan of hot cars.

Disney Pixar announced last week that a sequel is in the works.  I'm gonna miss Doc Hudson.

I'll miss Paul Newman.

A class act with a classic life and a beautiful family. What more could you ask of life?

Yeah, he had a pretty good one. A few tragedies, because they're inescapable, but a good man with a good life.

Olly, doesn't it feel like we're losing so much? I wonder which of our favourite actors will be blessed with this much longevity.

Cindy... yeah.

He was a class act. I'll miss him but feel good he seemed to have such a good life -- long and rewarding. He did what he wanted and stood up for what he believed and it doesn't sound like he had many regrets.

A good reminder of my favorite saying-- "It's your life-- don't chicken out!"

Man, now there's a fine nipple....I forgot how lovely he was. You're right and a distinguished gent too. But seriously, he was more than a pretty face, that's for sure. Thanks for the great pictures.
