When I step out I'm gonna do you in

Okay people, I thought THIS was just REALLY FREAKING COOL!

David Cook sings "SHARP DRESSED MAN" with ZZ Top

(watch to the end of the performance, but skip the ending with the screaming stadium full of hometowners. Save yer eardrums.)

(And I thought for sure this'd be the night that Paula would literally fall out of her dress. I almost did, and I wasn't wearing a dress. I almost fell outta my hoodie.)

Dude can sing. And he's got pretty eyes. That'll do it for me.

But you know me... hang a guitar on him and my eyes and ears are open.

Kinda shallow that way.

I thought last night's big show was fun, despite the usual amount of boring group performances and other time fillers. There were highlights, such as Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey Jr backing up Gladys Knight. Hee hee hee. And The Love Guru playing Sitar Hero... that was pretty cool.

But ZZ Top? Yeah man!

(One of these things is not like the other....)

So have you watched the video? It's the one show I actually make time to watch, usually while folding laundry, and no matter how bad it can get... it sure is entertaining! I know 98% of my readers don't watch this ridiculous show, but I'd love to hear all of your opinions!

Well here's one of the 2% that does. :) I loved Idol this year. I was growing wary of all the drama in the previous years but this year was pretty good.

George Michael...it was great to see his appearance but sad too. I remember him in the 80's, MTV was CLEAN and I watched whilst rocking my boys to sleep.

Love your blog Heidi!

Why thank you!

I told my daughter last night (the one with the golden voice who refuses to sing when anybody's listening) to really pay attention to George Michael's performance. Very powerful song... but I didn't think he was as good as he used to be.

She looked at me stunned. "He used to better than this?"

I said, "He's very very good. He used to be amazing."

But it was still good to see him again!

You know I was hoping I wasn't the only one that thought that about him, his performance almost made me cry...he may not be as good as he use to be but he still has that “it” factor that made him so good in the 80’s.

Well he had a pretty bad cold apparently, so I'll give him some slack.

Hell yeah, and I am gald he won. The dude can sing - any song, any type.

He definitely deserved.

I thought if the kid won, he'd keel over... I was a little concerned about the kid.

Anyways, here's hoping the label matches him up with a producer who GETS HIM and doesn't wreck his career!

(I'm still not sure about the comb-sideways though.)
