And...the Answer is....

Regrettably, No. But I still think he's awesome. He was so very polite and quick; no waiting! He wished me luck in finding representation for my book. And you know what? There are lots of other agents out there.

I'd be a secret agent.

In all my pictures I'd have my arm over my face or something.

Could you try a different agent?

Onward, and upward, I agree.
I guess that he just isn't the right one for you. The right is out there. :)

It's just one agent...how many are there, a kajillion? He'll be sorry when the first movie based on your novel goes blockbuster!

You know what? I knew going in that:

-it'd probably be a NO

-I planned to query lots of agents

-I just queried him first because he's my favourite (so far)

And honestly, he was so gracious. I'm actually thankful he hinted at a few ways I can make my query more effective.

I've been collecting rejections for YEARS. It's just that this was my first query for this particular novel. And now that that's out of the way...

LOOKOUT.

I'm sorry. You'll find your match, I have faith. I'm really glad he gave you some feedback on your query. That's invaluable.

Keep going!

Ya know? I guess it is kinda like falling off a horse. Ya just HAVE to get back on...

It'll happen. I know it will.

Whew! Now that the hard part is over and out of the way...I'm interested to hear how this whole process works out for you. I'm really pretty darn excited for you considering you're a perfect stranger to me. Anyway, good luck with any further revisions to the query. Fingers crossed for a quick YES. I'm looking forward to when you blog about that. Oh, nice job on the library.

Cheers

Anissa, thanks, I will find my match. I still say this guy's a prize for offering some feedback. Way better than a form letter or a robot email. Actually a robot email would be kind of funny if it was done in those old computer letters from them old space invaders games. OOps I think I just went off on a tangent.

Yes I will keep going. I've got a list that I'm narrowing down. I'll get there.

Cindy, yep. Always get back on. Always!

Bonni, look at that, you stopped by to look at a bookshelf and ended up in the middle of Literary agent drama!! I don't think it'll really be all that exiting, sadly. Just me hunched over my computer looking for agents to bombard with letters. But trust me, when I find one, I doubt I'll be able to keep it quiet. You'll hear me yelling all the way across the province...

Just curious, but have you thought about publishing it yourself and selling it on e-bay? IS the cost of publishing a book too expensive? I don’t know how this stuff works, or even if it works, but it seems to be an option. Or sit outside Wal-Mart and sell autographed copies. I would buy one and you would be a published author – no?

Beck & Marni, I won't give up! That would be like not breathing!

Capt Corky- Thank you.

Coffey- there is the self publishing option but I've decided not to go that way. finding an agent to represent the book is a huge hassle and a total emotional rollercoaster, BUT it means that I have someone on my side to get me a decent deal and help me with the legal side of it.

Also, going that way- agent, editor, publisher- means that I'll get a better product in the end. It'll be a better book. That's what I want.

And, I want to sell it. I don't think just me and my blog and my loved ones can reach a big enough audience.

However...I've ended up with some pretty awesome blog readers...

No worries, Heidi...

You will find an agent who totally sees exactly what you do, and find a publisher who sees the same thing the both of you see.

A story worth telling.
