(I borrowed that from a Led Zeppelin song. You get bonus points if you guess which one.)
Here's a poem I wrote yesterday. Yeah, I know it doesn't rhyme. It's one of those poems. By putting it up here, I make it ineligible for publication in print, but I just love ya all enough to give this to you for free!
___________________________________
Love can sneak up on you
and hit you like a brick wall.
Fall on you like a tower of concrete.
One day you're just you
and the next you're
thinking about names
and what somebody will look like.
Love makes your life flash before your eyes.
Love makes you want to meet somebody's mother.
Love waits,
sitting on his haunches,
at the top of the stairs,
eyes on the door,
tail ready to wag,
waiting for his loved one to come home.
Love makes you fear your death, not for yourself,
but because you can't stand the thought of your loved ones
mourning you.
Love makes you want to fall in love again.

I am not sure that you should have sacrificed its publishibility! It is a good one!
You know what I got for Valentine's Day? I got a propane fueled Coleman Tiki Torch. It's super cool and I can't wait to break it out this weekend at the cabin!
Now THAT is a good gift!
Don't worry about the poem though...there are stacks and stacks of that crap. Seriously. But thank you for the compliment!!
Now write a poem about me!
You rock.
awesome poem sweetie!
Stanza four is especially terrific--love the whole thing, but especially #4 because its so visually evocative.
I'm not sure publishing here prevents "real" publication...
What a love-ly person you are!
Awww. I love the "...sitting on his haunches,/at the top of the stairs..." part.
Can't tell you what Led Zep song it is, but now I have VH's "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" in my brain.
Not a bad post-Valentine ditty.
Biddie, you can include yourself in that poem if you want. But yes, I will have to write one about you...
timmy, thank you!
Therese and Nicole... my dog was just killin me last night. Big Daddy Jethro had been at work since the morning before and the Pug was acting like he'd cry if his Big Daddy didn't come home. I don't know how many nights that man has worked all night and I'd wake up every few hours while the dog snored on, but last night....????
yes thank you, I am all about the love!
And Nicole gets a bonus point for dirty Van Halen rockin on the day after Valentine's Day!
"Ain't talkin bout love! My love is rotten to the core!"
no idea on the song, but the poem is good
aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh
Love purrs on your lap while you type, too.
(snapping the fingers on both hands) Cool, Baby. Real far out!
I like it.
would that be... "trampled under foot," perhaps?
lovely poem. really.
Great Poem, and so true!
TERRY WINS THE PRIZE!!!
The title is from "Trampled Under Foot" from Physical Graffiti.
Unfortunately there is no prize of measurable value...just my enduring respect, for you having as much useless information in your head as I have!!! Yay Terry!!
Thank you all for lovin my love poem!!!
i must admit, i had to cheat a little and look up the exact name of the song...but i could hear it in my head (instead of the voices) and knew which album i was looking for!
the song kicks ass.
Cool. I had to verify too. That's the album that I put on and trance out, instead of memorizing titles!
The trance really helps with the voices too eh?
Greеtings! Very helpful adνice in this ρагticular poѕt!
It's the little changes that make the most important changes. Many thanks for sharing!
