"Who are you, and what have you done with Heidi?"

Today's title is brought to you by my bestest, Biddie, who was concerned when I wrote on Friday that I was voluntarily taking my daughter to the mall. Well, siddown, here's a shock: I went back the next day.

It was time for my SEMI-ANNUAL HAIRCUT.
I found a nice young fella named Ehsan who has pretty black fringed dark eyes. He was doing four women at once. Lucky guy, eh? Yep, I was just another girl under a hair dryer. But he did a great job. I caved and let him blow dry it straight because of those pretty eyes of his.

It was insane in there. Remind me why I never go to the mall on a Saturday. It was so loud and so hot in the salon. I can't say I enjoyed my four friggin hours in there. I didn't. I mean, I even had a girl polish my nails -for free- while the dye soaked into my hair. It was just tooooo loud and there were toooo many people there.

This is the back.
But when I got home, Jethro had horsed the shed onto its foundation and gotten started on the new fence. Stupid cheap crappy tin shed.

He also put my new tailllights on my truck. Isn't that sexy?
Today (Monday) I went back for a touch up, since the dark brown didn't quite cover the bleached part. My boy Ehsan was much more relaxed today. So was I. He seemed to figure out today that I am not a fashionable hip club hoppin young suburbanite. I'm somebody's mother. I wear jeans and T shirts. I'm very comfortable in rubber boots, swinging a pitchfork. I'm a basically unpretentious unfussy kind of girl...I just want fake hair, okay? Give me a colour found in nature but only on petunias. I asked him to not straighten it today. I have my familiar and comforting waves and curls and chaos around my head.

Hairstylists usually spend several minutes telling me how great my hair is. How thick and luxuriant and strong and wavy and wonderful my head of hair is...and then a couple hours later, they're blowing it straight and flat-ironing it. Well I'm not in high school anymore kids, and I won't be talked into anything. My hair is not straight. To iron it into submission is to suggest that I'm in need of some straightening out too.

I'm crooked, unruly, and almost impossible to tame. And I'm starting to feel pretty good about it.

I prefer the wild and wooly look to the straightened out, personally. Of course, I just might be slightly biased. I totally dig your color.

And, oooohhhhhhh - the tail lights!

You had me going...I didn't see any pink at first!!!! It looks good! Looks great, in fact!!! I just went for my big day with the Beauty Queen the other day and LOVE the cut but couldn't decide on colour... so living with the white hairs for now...

Absolutely gorgeous that I just about can't stand it!

OO, JJ, thanks! (Do I get a prize? hee hee!)

Dilling- It's more of a magenta this time. Such a difference, eh? My sister thinks I'm nuts to keep dying my hair because I haven't gotten any greys yet. I think she could be right about that...

CindyD- You're right. Wild is better!

Tim- Hot with 2 Ts!!! Yay!

Biddie- I can't wait. Imagine the two of us at the freakin mall. It's been a loooong time!

Beck-Thanks!!! Tell Halie that my daughter sometimes thinks I'm nuts and that my son liked it better the other way, so really, us mothers can't win!

Mackey- comin from you, cutie? Thanks!

Love your hair... makes me miss my long hair!!
Great taillights, too!

Love that nail polish, too. I wish my job didn't destroy manicures...lol

You.
Are.
Rock.

Heidi the Hick said...

Amethyst- I'm not especially nice to my "manicures" either. I have short nails, so that helps, but I just do not have a life that caters to self pampering!

Pirate.
Yes.
You're.
Right.
I am.

Damn you! I was thinking of getting my hair done like that for grad...now I have to think of something new. I love it though. It looks awesome...I like it better than the pink.

Why didn't you tell us you had special Hick Chick t-shirts like you're wearing in the first pic? You should sell them on your site!!!

Heidi the Hick said...

Pirate, I can't stress how important it is for a very chic hick woman like myself to have matching hair and truck taillights. I am so pleased that you noticed!

Reid! I DO sell them! There's a link in the sidebar. I haven't been flogging them though, because I'm not totally happy with it yet. I have to make some improvements.

You'd never know it by looking at me but I do have a perfectionist streak. Or maybe the perfectionist is one of my personalities...the one that the slob me keeps shutting up...

Sorry I've been gone a bit lately. I may even finally post something new!

Nice tail lights too...
