As of TODAY we've been married for TWENTY FIVE YEARS!

There may be a lot of nastiness out there in the world…

Sometimes people are awful….

You'll feel let down and disappointed…

That's life.

Sickness and health, good and bad.

That's what we have lived through, the big man and I, for all these years.

Tonight we take out younguns out for a nice dinner and then the young lady will take our 25th anniversary portraits in the sunset-lit hay field across the road.  I'll be wearing cowboy boots like I did on Canada Day 25 years ago.

When we got married in the park beside the river in Smallburg we didn't have any inkling we'd end up living in Smallburg all this time later.  There was no way to predict the craziness life would serve us. or the incredible blessings.

Hug your loved ones, everybody!

Congratulations to you both. You are heading into the scintillating twilight zone of having-been-married longer than not-having-been-married (I assume, or has to be damn near).

You would think that in 25 years you would have experienced everything that marriage means, but far from it, there are new discoveries ahead, new mountains to climb, new challenges to face, new pleasures to enjoy, new surprises awaiting you ... (have I forgotten anything? If so please insert, new insert, insert and add).

Bonus: In this you also have 2 faithful companions making the journey with you. This celebration is theirs as much as yours. From my heart to yours, I wish you all the best.

Mazel Tov to you all. It's so great that you have an enduring and loving marriage. It's not easy to find that these days. Here's to the next 25!

Heidi, your wedding was a very happy occasion in our family history. I loved the fact that the poem Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening was included. There was also a very amusing moment after the ceremony when a bystander on the other side of the river was heard saying to her friend, "The bride's mother is wearing kind of pink." I guess that it wasn't a true pink and that was as close as it got! Happy anniversary to both of you and please do a post with the photos taken by your lovely young daughter.
