Good job with the pics. What is your favorite bread of horse - given your druthers?

Yeah, I can't take credit for the pictures. That was my kid!

Jkb, I hope you get one again some day. Without my folks and their 4 acres, I wouldn't have these guys.

Coffeypot, you mean breed right? I pictured horses made of sourdough for a second, hee hee.

I will always have an affection for Arabians. I wanted one for most of my childhood, and when I was 18 I bought my red Half Arab gelding. Some people think Arabs are flighty and unreliable, but I think it takes some understanding. They have endurance like crazy.

Of course, I love Appaloosas. Not just for looks, although I do love the spots and the freckles and incredible variations of spots and freckles and speckles! I love their minds too. They are different. They don't really spook (in my experience) but they are totally stubborn and have a solid preservation instinct. Gotta know how to work with it. Plus they're tough.

Can't beat a Quarter horse; they really are the good all arounder.

And I love ponies, all of them. Someday I want to have a belgian, too!

So my favourite breed? Besides all of them? I'd have to say Appaloosas, mostly because right now I have two!

Sorry about that. I had just washed my hands and couldn't do a thing with my fingers. I have heard of a horse color called sourdough, though. And I think my favorite horse is the Quarter Horse – not to be confused with my quarter horse.

I love those freckles and that soft lip! What a beauty!

He's a sweet guy. I've forgiven him for bucking me off last year. Twice.

(You'd watch him packing my kids around and never guess that we had those little "incidents." And yes, I put my kids on a horse that bucked. He's never placed a foot wrong with them. He's gonna be a good partner.)

You know this is like a whole different language for me, right?
I like black horses :)

GLORY be to God for dappled things—
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced—fold, fallow, and plough; 5
And áll trádes, their gear and tackle and trim.

All things counter, original, spare, strange;
Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)
With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change: 10
Praise him.

So I just found your blog....and went all the way back to the very beginning (you should really have a jump to end button, it took me hours to scroll down and hit older posts hahahaha) and have been reading your blog. I've gotten through like two years now, and then i realized its weird that I haven't left any comments! I'm loving reading about your horses...and your life in general!
