The craziness is fading... BUT HERE ARE MY RED CARPET PICTURES!

I don't think this will ever get old.  I'm the runty farm kid, he grew up behind the feed mill.  And here we are, pulling up to the Saddledome in a nice shiny... Yellow Checker Cab... because that's how we unfamous non-rock-stars roll....and there's the red carpet and the deafening roar of screaming fans.

The red carpet people open the car doors for us, and I swung my huge high heeled boots out and stood up, clutching my husband's hand, blinking at the crowd.  Last year, it went too fast; I vowed that if I ever got a chance to do it again, I'd do it right.  Slow it down.  Interact with the people, you know, the fans, even though they're not my fans.  I'll just borrow them for a few seconds.  I'll make my time beside the spotlight really count!

But this year's carpet was pretty short.  And once I was there, I sort of melted into shaky hands and trembling lips and that awful dry-top-lip-stuck-to-teeth problem.

But I was there, dammit!  And friends, this is what it looks like:

Ahhhhh who's in that caaaaab omigaaawwwwwwd AAUUUUUGGHHHH  WHOOOOOO LOOK WHO IT IS....  it's...  look, look, it's....

Who is that? Do you know them?  Is that the guy from that band with the.... no that's not him... is it her, is she famous?  She's not Alanis is she?  No, too short.  I don't get it... WHERE ARE ALL THE FAMOUS PEOPLE????

It was bizarrely comical seeing the confused faces.  I don't think all these people realized how many unrecognizable people would be strutting, or, ambling dazedly, down the red carpet.  I didn't bother to yell over the noise that I am accompanying a Juno nominee who was last year's winner.  Most people don't even know what a recording engineer does.  (Including a few people I chatted to at the after-parties, haha!)  So we just walked, stunned, amazed at how different this one was than last year's, knowing that we will never get used to this... it will always be amazing.

We were with three other nominees, which was good because then we looked stunned as a larger, more secure group!  Man, those screamers were loud!

Further down the line, I took another picture.  It was more like this:

Well, I'm not really sure who they are, but I think I'll smile at them anyways, because they might be somebody and I'm just not hip enough to know them, so I'll smile.

Um, should I take a picture of them?  Maybe I will just in case, y'know, like if I see them in the paper tomorrow because it turns out they really are somebodies, and then I can tell everybody that I took their picture!  But maybe I should save room on the camera for when Avril gets here...

So here we are, on the way into the building.  I was trying to solve the dry-top-lip-stuck-to-upper-teeth problem when the camera went off.  And of course, my lovely cute husband gives his reliable smile.  He is the most solid person on the planet!

We tried to get another picture, without the whole stuck lip thing, but of course, I am the most unreliable person, and just can't be trusted to behave, even in pictures...during fits of nervous giggles...

Who are these people?   You know what, I'm just gonna stand here until Feist shows up....

Glad to see those pictures! Y'all are so flippin' cute. Stuck upper lip and flits of nervous giggling or not!

I am so glad y'all had a great time!

I got a hair cut today. I thought about copying your and getting some pink. But, I am just not a pink girl I guess! My hair dude LAUGHED at me and told me no.

HAha!! Love this post... and it all looks so fun!

I'd LOVE pink, too, but that WOULD be copying... the girl-who-ruined-my-hair suggested blue, but I'm not a blue girl...
CindyD, you seem like a hydrangea-blue kinda gal... I think that would look great!

I love your crowd photos...I love all their faces...but, where's the dress????

The beautiful dress was my Saturday night black tie outfit. It was kinda cold on Sunday. It's usually cold in April in this country... so I opted for standard rock concert wear. Hey, it's not like anybody else took pictures of us...! Last year I wore the pink dress for red carpet and I froze. (I'm going to wear it to my daughter's gr 8 graduation in June, hehehehe)

KC YES! That is the fabulous coat you gave me! It's been called the Lenny Kravitz coat and the Chris Robinson coat. It is fab, like the person who gave it to me!

Katy, I'm "famous" to the important people!

Coffeypot, thanks! And, thanks!

Anita, you can do it. It's not copying. (I mean, Avril did it too, why not you?)

Cindy, I would have loved to hear that conversation!
"Ha ha ha ha ha! NO."

Tod- They were really confused. I knew taking pictures of the crowd would totally mess everybody up!!!

"I'm famous to the important people." That's all that matters, isn't it? Great photos and post. Thanks for sharing your joy!

Patry, thanks for sharing my sharing!

(I should have taken a picture of the novel I've been reading during the trip...)

I LOVE your red carpet pics. You guys look great. Did you enjoy your mountain adventure?

Heidi the Hick said...

I actually can't wait to tell you about our mountain adventure!

(thanks for the compliments... we weren't so glamorous out in the sticks!)

Not sure when I'll be able to write about it and post pictures, but I will tell you about the mountains, the ranch, and the diesel truck. It was quite a 24 hour adventure.

I'm completely messed up now. REally tired but it's about, oh, two or three hours past my bed time. I'm sort of still in party timezone. ugh.

*Gasp*

You're not Alanis?

hehe...

I love the shot of the woman leaning over the barrier with a big grin on her face (2nd pic) looking like she knows she just scored a mention in a magazine somewhere.

Oh yeah.

Oooo! I can not wait until you go next year! Tell the Beatle man to work hard and make sure he gets nominated. I need something to look forward to all year! Loved the Juno posts!!!

What fun! I can see you taking pictures of all those people taking pictures! Very fun!

Heidi the Hick said...

haha! I didn't even think of how many people might have pictures of me taking pictures of them!

Rain, you do know where the Junos are going to be held next year, right? Get your ferry ticket ready!!

And yes, he's already looking forward to lining up his submissions for next fall. He's got some projects coming up that he's pretty excited about. Good feeling.

As for me and my Alanis hair... I show off my great hair because I don't have great big boobs, haha!

I hope the grinning lady doesn't mind showing up only on Hick Chic, instead of some big shiny entertainment mag...
