On Boxing Day (that's the Day After Christmas to those of you outside Canada) we woke up to a delicate frosting of ice on everything. As the day went on, the ice crystals proved themselves to be not so fragile after all... throughout the day, the sky shifted from silver to white to blue to an unbelievable shade of silverblueperiwinklegrey and back to white again, and the ice remained. Even when the sun broke through the mist, the layer of cold lace clung to every surface.
In the middle of the day, I sent my 13 year old daughter out with the camera. She started behind the house and ended up on the other side of the barn.
This is what she came back with...

She is so talented. I wish I could take photos that were as amazing as those.
She did have to delete a few that didn't turn out, but in general she does have an eye for this. I'll tell her you complimented her!
(I planned to come back to blog world tomorrow but I couldn't wait. I had to share her pictures tonight!!!)
that girl has talent!!!!
Great pictures! I'm impressed!!
she has a great eye...like her mama.
those are goooorgeous foe toes.
That last photo is killer!!!
Thanks for sharing the pretty snow pics. All we got is grey and wet here.
She's got a great eye! I find myself envious of a 13 year old!
She did a good job and I bet she had fun doing it, too. Maybe she will pursue it as a career. But it looks too cold up there.
Our Christmas and Boxing Day (also Sweet Tea's birthday) was wet. We finally got some rain but now we can't sleep for all the noise of the earth slurping up the moisture. Even the worms were sticking up like charmed cobras enjoying the rain. We needed it bad.
She really does have an amazing talent.
Maybe she can teach me?
wow, beautiful photos, she sure knows how to take great photos well done to her
Thank her for me, will you? I needed to see some good Christmas weather. Christmas outside here was dark and pouring with rain.
thanks everyone!!!
i think i will pursue that as my future career!!! well, that and writing, horse riding and shoe designing...
sounds like somebody all of you should know........
Beautiful!
PS Are you guys going to build a Johnny Depp snowman today? ;)
Very nice photos - very cold looking - I need my blankie now.

Nice! She captured the true beauty of silence and peace.
Actually it wasn't extremely cold that day. (the 24h was cold!)
It absolutely was silent though, even with the highway right there. The snow and mist and fog and frost really muffle the noises.
One of those rare days that I really love winter.
I have to admit Hayes Town near Heathrow Airport doesn't look much like that....
Beautiful pics. I'd move there but wouldn't like to lower the tone...
What beautiful pictures, Heidi! I love them.
Have a happy 2008!
Tribble has an excellent eye!
I wish the British weather were Christmassy. Instead, it’s wet and mild (as usual)!!!
Brilliant job, Heidi's daughter!
I have one progeny with similar talents and love to turn him loose with a camera.
You should add some of these images as note cards with your Hick Chic merchandise--you'd have one buyer for sure!
p.s. It's easy to see where her talent comes from...
Add some of your photos there, too!
Heidi, this girl-child of yours is seriously up for a Margaret Bourke-White impression here! Well done, chica.
I approve. Send her over to look at my snaps of the Winter Solstice in the Red Butte Gardens on my blog, and she'll see why I approve. We apparently have similar tastes in snow and fauna shots. But she's better than I am and less than a third my age.
OMG, Heidi. These are beautiful photos. You clearly have a very talented daughter.
All the best in 2008.
She has a great eye for color and composition.
Encourage this.
happpy new year!
