Why does it feel like it's been a long week? Is it because I haven't been feeling altogether wonderfully well? Is it because I wore myself out with all the pirating and flouncing? Is it the rum? I haven't been out to see a horse all week, which I plan to remedy this afternoon. I did, however, sit my ass down and write like a crazy person, which wasn't hard, being me and all.
My kids decorated for Hallowe'en. I'm thinking of leaving it like this for awhile, and not just out of laziness...
This weekend I need to get into that raspberry patch once and for all. It's time. Time to cut some dead wood. It might turn into a Hick Chic Guide.
Would you like a Hick Chic Guide to Hick Chic as well?
How about, the Hick Chic Guide To Barking At Children Who Have Forgotten Where The Garbage Can Is And Leave Candy Wrappers All Over The House For The Dog To Steal.
Must go now. Things to do, horses to ride, Fake People to write about. Cat barf to clean up. Truck to wash and vacuum. Dinner, eventually, to stress about before finally informing the kids that it's their turn, and therefore settling for fish sticks and fries.
I leave you with something that you cannot get enough of, something that surprised you...
possibly left you feeling...sullied...unusual...
But darling, it never would have worked between us.
I'm sorry.
And you need to know that I am a mere pale imitation of the glorious real thing...
Seriously, I'm done now. I got it all worked outta my system, I'm over it, no more scaring my husband, confusing the housewives and embarrassing my teenage daughter.
Just a little leftover candy and I'm good to go.
Hallowe'en might drop the veil between this world and the "next" but it also distorts reality...and that's something I can't see straight on a good day. See you on Monday.

Wow, I had to look carefully at that picture of you to make sure it wasn't Johnny - seriously. Also, I like the shot of Johnny inside the POTC ride. I was at DLand the day all the celebrities got to ride the new and improved version for the Dead Man's Chest premiere, and I was also one of the very first people to ride the new version. It's really cool, so when you come out this way let me know and I'll personally escort you to the House of Mouse (any excuse, you know...) Of course, you're much closer to Disney World, which I've heard is even awesomerer than DLand...
Love the skeleton under the bench. lol!
If you want to see a horse, go here: My Head Is A Box Filled With Nothing - Grizamorox on my blog role.
You’re definitely no cheap imitation of the real Jack Sparrow. He is a cheap imitation of you.
I agree with Coffeypot.
100%
I love the decorations, too. We really do anything this year, except to carve 8 pumpkins. They're rabbit food, now :)
I'm so doing that skeleton thing next year - love it! Have a great weekend...
The second picture doesn't show for me. . .curiosity is killin' me!
Have a great weekend!!
Nicole- haha! My son just looked at this and said, "whoa, that picture of the real him, I had to look at it real good because I thought it was you for a second." So I've thoroughly confused my own child. Your little Disneyland trip was a real turning point wasn't it!! You know I've been to Florider twice and never went to D world...maybe if I had a personal escort I'd get up the guts!!
Tod, that skeleton is priceless for good entertainment!
Coffeypot, I did check it out and we laughed our heads off. I hope they let that pony out of the house for a good roll in the dirt when he's done with his comedy acting gig. Let me tell ya, the beer trick was interesting...!
Cheap imitation? He and I have brown eyes and cheekbones in common. I'm sure he'd appreciate knowing that eh?
Biddie, you beat us by 6 pumpkins!
Rain you need a plastic skeleton!!
Bunny- the second picture was Mr Bones' legs hanging out of the flowerbed. It kind of looks like he's coming out from under the lilac tree. Last year the legs were hanging off the mail box.
Good times!
Oh...it's plastic?? I thought it was some neighbour you didn't like...seems less fun knowing that...
um...yeah...plastic, that's it...yeah.
Love the skeleton... Just put black boots with white fur trim and remnants of red pants on it for Christmas... :D
I'm getting here late, but you make an awesome Captain Jack!
Ahhh, the weekend. I need to have some horse time too!
I'm there with you on the candy wrappers and the dog. ARRghgh!
I saw the cutest little lunch box shaped tin today, black and purple, with Cap'n Jack on it... My first thought was
"Ooo! Heidi!"
My compliments to your kids on the decorations.
Now, Heidi, you have to drop over to my blog and read the post on Car #53. I actually thought of you while I was on this date. Am I loyal or what? (It's rather like the time I was in Oxford and ran away from my tour group to snap a photo of Oscar Wilde's house for Alternatefish.)
Oh, and I'm honored that you have linked me to your blog, but I have a request. Could you please link me under the name "a paperback writer"? There is another woman who goes by "paperback writer," and she gets really quite POed when anyone mixes up my blog with hers. I don't want her on my case again about it, so would you be a darling and list me with the proper indefininte article attached? Thanks, tons.
thank you, thank you, and no problem!
Kids did a great job on the decorations.
