Prayers

I've known Jessica all her life. All twelve years. I held her when she was only a few hours old. When she was three, I got a sobbing phone call from her mother because the little angel was in the hospital, and had just been diagnosed with diabetes.

This kid is one of the most mellow, laid back kids I've ever met. I don't think I've ever heard her complain. For all of her memory she's had to take several needles a day, countless finger pokes, constant measuring of blood sugars and calories and carbs.

She's in the hospital right now. She went in for her regular check up and and got checked in for a week.

Please pray for Jessica, if you are the praying type. She's struggling. Diabetes is one of the most unfair diseases in the world. We have the technology to save a diabetic's life, but it never gets forgotten. Every bite of food, every drink, every hour of the day it's there. It affects the entire body. She's only twelve...

Please pray for Jessica's mother, Bridget. She needs it. This woman has been struggling with Bi-polar Disorder for most of her adult life. I know how hard it is to keep a family together when Mom's mental health is shaky. It's difficult enough, let alone when there's something as serious as diabetes in the family to manage. She's at the end of her rope. Please go over and talk to her today.

I don't usually do this. It often feels like a lot to ask. But I don't know what else to do. It's awful, feeling helpless.

Heidi - Jessica is in my prayers. I know how unfair diabetes is. My dad has it, my cousins... It is an awful, terrible, horrible disease. And Bridget, just bless her.

Our most gracious and loving Father, Thank you Lord for all the blessings that you give us. Thank you Lord for the blessings we know about and for the ones that we don't. Dear Father, please put a protective hedge of warring angels around Jessica as she battles her sickness. Lord, just help her find strength, hope and peace in You. For Bridget, Lord, please give her the knowledge of Your love, Your peace, Your blessings. Please let Bridget know deep in her soul that Jessica's illness is not her fault, Lord. Please give her strength and the mental stability to hold her family together and take care of Jessica. It is in Your heavenly name that I pray. Amen.

Katy, thank you. It's what we can do from here.

Prayers from Georgia, too! Hugs to you all.

If Biddie can't keep us posted, will you?

I haven't heard anything yet. I think they're at the hospital and not spending much time at home.

Bridget told me last night that she'd call, but I told her she doesn't have to, just take care of herself and the kids, and call me when she has time. I'm hoping that no news is good news and that Jessica's stabilized and okay.

Whew.

I talked to her just before 10pm. Jess is feeling okay, although really bummed to be stuck in the hospital. She's eating well and her blood sugars are actually low. I think they're just keeping an eye on her and trying to get her stabilized.

Thank you all for all your prayers and positivity. I want to believe that it's helping.

Prayers from Kentucky. Like others, I wish I could do more. Diabetes is an awful disease, and it seems especially unfair to young people.

Additional prayers and good thoughts are coming from Georgia. It sounds very promising though if they have possibly gotten her stabilized.

We'll keep her in our prayers (Jessica and her whole family).
