Things ah gotta dooooooo...

It's March Break, and that means party time with the kids. Oh yes. Already today we've had the big fried egg breakfast, the dog walk, and two stop motion animation Playmobil videos. I haven't even started doing laundry yet!!

Please feel free to have a little party in the comments section. You know the deal: get along, kids, turn off the lights when you leave the room, don't touch my piles of papers, clean up after yourselves, blah blah blah, and could you try to keep it somewhat G rated since my mom's figured out how to turn on her computer and get the internet going. You know? I've caused her enough grief already. Please let's not make it worse.

Okay, discuss amongst yourselves the following observations:

1) Sometimes I think I'd like to go totally Amish/ tree hugging rebel and get off the grid. Yank out all those ugly power lines. Sort of a solar power/ generator/ candlelight combo. It's fun to dine by candlelight! Even if it's just spagetti! But I don't know if I'd have enough juice to run my computer and then I couldn't quickly churn out brilliant stories and do this blog thing so I think I'll have to stick with nasty old electricity.

2) Speaking of which... we are so reliant on computers it's scary. Seriously. You know how my mom is onto this now? They only got a push button phone, like, ten years ago. Now she checks the TV listings on the internet. Because when you have a whole evening of TV watching, you really do have to plan it out...

3) I don't know about you but we haven't had a serious blizzard in decades.
See this photo? It was taken in January 2007. I hear it doesn't look like this now at the farm, and that the bottom rail of the fence is covered in snow. There are few big drifts out there. But it's not like it used to be. (I'm going to be an old codger now and tell you how it used to be.) In 1977 we got stranded at our neighbour's because we couldn't get the truck up the road the next quarter of a mile home. There was snow inside the truck. Okay granted they weren't much big on weather stripping in 1955 when that truck was built but still. When I was a kid pretty much every winter somebody would show up at the door frozen and begging to use the phone because their car was stuck in a five foot snowbank. Now, if it snows, my son's bus gets cancelled. Do you remember having indoor recess because it was too cold to go outside? Wha??? Ever heard of a scarf? Wimps.

4) My husband and I are going away for five days in April. FIVE DAYS. Just us. Yep, just us and a couple hundred of the Canadian music biz's best and brightest.
We are going to party with Nelly Furtado. Ha ha ha ha! Look out, she's a maneater! I better keep Jethro well guarded or she'll start gnawing on his massive forearms. His right arm is huge. From all the mouse clicking. Editing vocal tracks. Click. Click. Anyways. I get him all to myself, when he's not shaking hands with suits, and when I'm not flirting with guyliner punks in their 20s. It's gonna be awesome!!

5) Saskatoon Saskatchewan is officially the Most Romantic City in Canada. Why? Because it is rather hard to get there. Might as well make the most of it. It will take two plane rides, then a cab, then a portage. I'm kidding about the portage. Check it out, me, former farm girl, joking about how remote Saskatoon is. Geez.

6) You really should watch the Juno Awards. It's more fun than the Grammy Awards. I mean it, I'm not just saying that.

7) I'm going to be up to my ankles in sloppy mud and covered in horse hair this upcoming week and I am soooo happy.
(This is me with the King in April 2006. I hope I'll have a nice spotted horse to brush the winter hair off of this spring.) Come on, admit, I wear them coveralls pretty okay.

8) Here's something I like about myself: I feel great in coveralls and barn boots and my earflaps hat. Once or twice a year, depending on who's up for an award and who's up for getting married, I take a shower and put on a dress and some makeup and boots with a higher heel than my riding boots and I clean up pretty good. Sometimes just getting showered and getting my butt out of the desk chair is a big deal.

9) It's almost time for my semi- annual haircut.

10) OOO! Speaking of which! It's Friday! I've been getting out of my Friday Johnny habit lately. Time to stock up. (sigh) He's so perfectly wonderfully awesome.

That's alot to think about. Sometimes I think about going off of thr grid, too. It would be too hard, tho, cuz I love my 'puter, and cable, and shopping malls - when I have the money and I am in the mood to shop. I don't care much for people tho. You know, strangers, the general public. (Actually, I LOVE General Public, just not THE general public - aw, you know what I mean).
Plus, I have the whole nasty business of my court date coming up. Sigh.
I remember the blizzard of '77. TMOC and I had to walk home from school. It was brutal. I almost got lost in the storm. My dad was a tow truck driver, so we were on our own. Scary. I can't recall ever having an indoor recess - unless the rain was pouring down like crazy.
Did you know that Johnny Depps daughter is in the hospital? 9 days now. Must be bad.
I can't wait to see youand the kids! And the pug? Oh man, we are all waiting on his visit.

Yeah man, General Public, in their funny suits and the Guy With The Striped Hair.

I just read that the little Depp daughter is in the hospital. Apparently they don't know what's wrong, which is very scary! I didn't know it was 9 days! I feel so lucky that I've never had to deal with that. I can't imagine the feeling.

Yes, there will be some Pug in your future. I know this because I'm psychotic. I mean, psychic.

I would give it up, the computer, the cable...if I could live undisturbed and remote...I'd miss the daily interaction with you all, but when I can afford to own my own island(or country or planet....)I can afford to fly you all in whenever I want...until I can get THERE, I won't give up what I have HERE.

ready to give it all up just as soon as dilling has got her own island!

Love the pic of the boob grab. That's what I love to see relatives doing. Gawd!
Actually the Junos do sound like fun. Still jealous.

KC, ha ha ha, I grossed you out!!!!!

I still say, you should stay in school and all educated and get yourself a nice media job. You would have way more fun having Ben Mulroney's job than mine.

Cuz, see, he actually gets to talk to famous people. It's his job. Whereas me, if not this year then for sure next, various famous people will be going to great lengths to avoid me.

(This year I'm tucking a pen and paper into my purse for those pesky autographs!!!!)

GO YOU!
When you talk about goin' Amish it only reminds me of Weird Al..tonight we're gonna party like it's 1899!..or Witness when the Anglische bring der troubles mit der guns!
JUNOs should be awesome..Nelly should wrap up because that album is incredibly strong..Britney who?
Canada has awesome bands.

Love your Horse Whisperer outfit grrr your hubby must be very confident to let you loose in such alluring outerwear..especially the cap!

It is totally melting here in Whateverpeg so we all know that we are going to pay dearly for it..I fully expect a Huge Blizzard..it is March afterall.

Saskatoon is a beautiful city and I am not just saying that because I am a prairie dawg! Regina on the other hand...((cough))

You and your Johnny...hard to argue because he has done an amazing job of playing in quirky films and I laughed when he told his son how he finally sold out when he took on Jack Sparrow to make the big bucks...
he is one cool cat.

H.E. I have been to Regina. It didn't really impress me either way, truthfully. When we were at the Winterpeg Junos two years ago all the Toronto people were complaining about the wide streets and low traffic. HUH??? Wha????

You know we're getting more snow. It always snows at least once in April. Snow on the tulips. It always snows in April!!!

Hey I'm thinking of rockin the coveralls on the Red Carpet. Eh??

Glad ya all like my Johnny pictures. I like him too.

And when Dilling buys her own island, I'm there!!!
